Brantford Master Gardeners

The Brantford Master Gardeners were organized in 1986. It is a non-profit organization affiliated with both the Ontario Horticultural Association, and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Our mandate is to give gardening advice to the home gardener by holding clinics at malls and garden centres. etc. We write a newspaper column about gardening, conduct "on hands" gardening classes, and have a "hot line" where you may phone in for advice. Calls will be returned as soon as possible. The phone number is 519-752-9089 (no long distance calls please) For long distance - use the Internet. You may also write us at PO BOX 26-025 R.P.O. Terrace Hill, Brantford , On N3R7X4.

We started with ten members, and now have thirty three active members. It takes about two years to become a Master Gardener. Horticulture I, II, and III must be taken as correspondence courses at Guelph University. We have to agree to give thirty hours of volunteer work a year. Most of our members give much more than that.

We hold a garden tour each year which raises the funds that we need to work with.
